Arthur Docters van Leeuwen
joined NSOB as a senior research fellow in 2007. He coordinates a program for the upper ranks of the Dutch public service. He has been a public servant for nearly four decades, during which among other things he was the deputy director-general for Public Order and Safety at the Ministry of the Interior, the head of the Dutch Intelligence Service, the chairman of the executive board of the Public Prosecution Service, and the chairman of the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). In this latter capacity he was also the chair of CESR, the Committee of European Securities Regulators. He is currently completing his PhD and convenes NSOB’s Top Management Network program for the most senior executives in the Dutch public service.

Paul ‘t Hart
rejoined the NSOB as associate dean for internationalization in early 2011. He was associate dean at NSOB between 2002 and 2005, when he left for a 5-year stint as professor of political science at the Australian National University. He is currently also a professor of public administration at Utrecht University (since 2003), a Fellow at the Australia New Zealand School of Government, and an adjunct professor at the Crawford School of Economics and Government at the ANU. He was at Leiden University from 1987-2003. He has been teaching and training public sector professionals since the late 1980s, when among others he was a co-founder of the Crisis Research Center at Leiden and co-teacher of the crisis management module in the inaugural NSOB’s MPA program. Rik Peeters
joined the NSOB in 2006 and manages several tailor-made in-house educational programs, especially in the field of local government. He also contributes to the research of the School’s think tank in research projects focussing on strategic management and on the role networks can play in providing public services. Rik works on a PhD-thesis at the Tilburg School of Politics and Public Administration at Tilburg University on the strategies employed by government to prevent socially undesirable behaviour by citizens. Jorren Scherpenisse

Martin Schulz
contributes to several of the research programmes undertaken by the NSOB’s think tank. He is lecturer at Tilburg University, where he also obtained his PhD for a study on governing by commissions in the Netherlands. Martijn van der Steen
joined the School in 2002 and is deputy dean and deputy director of NSOB and director of its think tank. Martijn studied public administration and history at Erasmus University Rotterdam and was trained as a management consultant at Dutch firm Twijnstra Gudde. His research interests include network management, the use of forecasting and scenarios in policy making, and the relationship between the media and government. Martijn received a PhD from Tilburg University for a study on the use narratives in the political debate about ageing. He contributes to several of the School’s research projects with a focus on strategic management and the role networks can play in the provision of public services. He also is dean of the Master Class Regulation and Compliance, the Master Class in Policy Analysis and dean of a tailor-made-in-house program for the municipality of Amsterdam.
